Name:
Mekha Abraham
OR-MEP Role:
Technical Manager, Oregon Multifamily Energy Program
What motivates you in this role?
Throughout my energy efficiency career, I have worked across many building sectors, including commercial buildings, schools, and residential. Working in the affordable multifamily sector has been the most rewarding because I’ve found owners and developers of affordable multifamily properties are the most committed to energy efficiency, not only to reduce energy costs, but also because of the long term impacts of energy savings for their tenants. These clients are the most open minded when it comes to innovation.
What excites you most about the Multifamily Energy Program?
Since the program launched last year, the most exciting part has been working with the project teams participating in the program. It is amazing to witness the hard work being done by these project teams to develop quality and energy efficient affordable housing across the state. Now that we have projects beginning construction soon, it will be exciting to see these buildings come to life.
What is one fun fact about you that you think people would love to know?
I used to play in a competitive adult dodgeball league, and while it is nothing like playing it as a child in middle school, it’s more fun as an adult.
What is your favorite place that you’ve traveled to in Oregon?
Silver Falls State Park was the first place I hiked when I moved to Oregon, and it set a very high bar for my future hiking adventures. Where else can you walk behind a 177 foot waterfall? If you’ve never been, I highly recommend it.
