Case Study: The Lawrence
The Lawrence’s new construction design focuses on resident well-being and reducing greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency. By installing various energy-efficient features, The Lawrence has developed a space where the residents can live affordably and with minimal energy burden. In partnership with the Zomi community, The Lawrence has become home to a large community of refugees from Myanmar, Bangladesh, and India. The multifamily building provides 96 units of affordable, environmentally friendly living for individuals and families with incomes below 60% of the area median.
With financial support from the Oregon Multifamily Energy Program (OR MEP), The Lawrence installed energy-efficient equipment including heat pump water heaters, insulation, windows and interior lighting. With high efficiency insulation and windows, the building will maintain comfortable temperatures year-round.
